My family had this bound volume of the American picture news magazine Life from October, 1948. Here are some advertisements from back in time.

We always had three magazine/books to look through at our hoouse and I paged through them with enthusiasm - Look, Life and National Geographic!

@perrone1 Same at our house. My maternal grandmother gave my brother and I a shared subscription to National Geographic when we were barely able to walk. Later, when I was on my own, I took out a subscription and continued with it for years.

Yep, Tony, Geoff and GDH, those magazines were a part of my folks and our families home back then, too !

Those National Geographics could be heavy when so many households subscribed when I was a letter carrier !! Thanks Mike, I enjoy perusing old magazines 👍

The National Geographics were great .... both the articles and the advertisements. My parents had a subscription since the mid-1960s and a neighbor gave us a collection of them since the late 1930's. Many cool car advertisements !

They are terrific ads ! Artists renditions were used more often in those days.
