Bought one of these on eBay but it was missing 2 spinners and a wiper. These are rare, so I didn't care much about the missing parts, moreover I have the kit so I could use or replicate parts from the kit. Of course, by Murphy's law another complete XJ13 showed up for sale later that I had to pass.
Oops I didn't take a pic of the model, but will add that later.
I used a primitive "lathe" to fabricate pins from aluminum and found a set of silver spinners in the parts box. The silver spinners were polished and after the parts assembled I glued them to pins so I can spray them with clear coat. Did that because the silver will get patina, hopefully that prevents it. Here are few pics, will add more when mount the spinners to the model.
An original spinner is seen at the top of the first picture.
Very nice work Chav. Can't wait to see the finished model.
Nice work Chav. I wish that I had the talent to create small parts as I have several models needing similar attention. I did manage to get after-market knock off hubs, wipers etc but only for 1/43 scale.
Iām missing the Small Wheels Jaguar XJ13 in my collection and it is difficult to find. Discovering two is over the top. I look forward to a picture of the final result. I have the Jaguar XK150 drophead and the Mark II by Small Wheels in 1/24, both bought in the 1990s.
you sir,are engaged in the work of the gods !!!.........I take it you`ve been by Micro mark a few times?....

Dave, the second one I was talking about just sold from Canada for US$199. I will alert you if I see another one.

But now I noticed the yellowing of the windows, mine has clear windows, so it is still a win.

I am planning to buy a real mini lathe one day, it was my dream as young modeler ...
thanks Chav.....it`s fascinating,seeing this done
Those spinners "turned"Ā out really nice.Ā It's always great when YOUR parts look as good or better than FACTORY parts. š šĀ

Thanks Chris, took a picture under more diffuse light, the new spinners are the best part of the rims. Also adding a picture of the dental rubber polishing bits I have for about 30 years ... they are really good for polishing metals. The engraver is battery operated and not very powerful but excellent for this job. For polishing the head of the spinner center road (aluminum) I used polishing sticks while spinning on the lathe.
The original car actually had angulated bars of the 3-bar knockoff spinners. If anybody knows the name of this type of knockoff spinners, please let me know.
I like them. You did some fine work; your Dentist would be proud. šĀ
