I wasn't fond of the chrome spare wheel cover on the rear of my recently acquired 1932 Ford 3-Window Coupe so I pulled out the took kit and went to work on it.  There was a fair bit of fiddling to remove it, but now I think the model looks much better.

If it had been a black, simulated leather or canvas cover, that would have been fine, but not a chrome cover.

Correct.... you made the right move - but you must keep that spare, and you did!  👍 👍

On my 1923 Model T project, from years ago, I had the same issue.... I needed to "water-down"  the spare and relocate it the rear (and fabricate the brackets, etc.... )   But, like your model, it was worth it! 😉
