The EC-121 "Batcat" at Khorat Royal Thai Air Force Base in 1969 is an early electronic warfare and weather aircraft. I always loved that Lockheed Constellation especially in the old TWA livery when it would go in and out of Newark Airport in the '50s. It was sad to see it getting phased out by the noisy, smokey first generation Boeing 707s. The first time I wandered over to the runways from the adjacent army base, I was amazed to see its resurrection dressed in camouflage. I found the exact same aircraft in 1/72 scale just for the nostalgia. It still looks so graceful.
Is the 1/72 scale model you found a plastic kit or diecast? Do you remember who makes it?

Rich, I have the same feelings of nostalgia about the TWA Constellation watching them come and go from the Lambert St. Louis airport. To me, this was the beginning of when travelling became quite luxurious with full meals on board and passengers dressed up to fly.
@ed-davis it's mahogany and made in the Philippines. It's sold by different vendors. Just google "EC-121 1/72"
"....passengers dressed up to fly."
HA! I've been flying for 40 years...... just ONE time - I had a Monday morning return flight - I saw businesspeople dressed up. Other than that.... you'd swear some of these folks just stepped out of the shower.
On a YT vid I saw the props look humongous. Is this the reason the Connie's landing gear so tall ? So the props would clear the runway ? And I agree that it is one of the most beautiful planes ever. Steve
