I didn't know that was Mercedes responded. I've seen a documentary on that incident. The actual footage was horrifying.

@rich-sufficool That's what I thought. If the rear window on the Cheeta didn't open, I guess the spare tire would have been just to meet the rules?
@jack-dodds Yeah, we used to ride our bikes up the road a few miles to a junk yard to look at the wrecks. If mom found out, we got a whuppin'.
Never seen that one before. Nice model! That spare tire doesn't look very accessible. Were they required?
