1/12 1958 Corvette

This is a Christmas present from my wife. She told me to go get a diecast that i wanted for Chistmas,so i did before she could change her mind. This is a Solido big 1/12 diecast that i found at a small local auto repair shop. I seem to remember Solido coming out with this model about 5 to 10 years ago and i'm guessing these big 1/12 beauties did not sell well because they were not availabe for very long. The repair shop had this one mint in the box for 65 bucks and i grabbed it. This is a beautiful model, the pics do not do it justice. The model is very well detailed, very well done engine and interior, even has real carpeting in the interior. The paint is very smoothe and has a high gloss. I don't know corvettes very well so i couldn't tell you if something is incorrect,i'm sure one of you Corvette guys can tell me is something is not right. I do wish Solido had done a better job on the headlights but otherwise, this is a very beautiful model and really stands out in my collection. I love it! Here are some pics.

That's gotta be an impressive display piece, Allan....

Those headlight bullseyes drive me crazy! On a model that size, are locator pins really necessary? You could mount those pieces wearing boxing gloves.
Sorry for the rant. That's a really nice score. I never knew Solido made anything larger than 1/18. I guess they took a shot at it like Maisto did with the Jaguar XJ220 and their '59 Caddy Biarritz.

Congrats Allan!

I have had two of these for a few years now and I really like them a lot! They always garner excellent comments from fellow enthusiasts.

My white convert has a red interior and then I also have the hardtop version in Regal Turquoise which is fabulous from the display! I bought the white one for $20.00 new-in-the -box (didn't know what they had!) on eBay probably eight or nine years ago. The turquoise was a gift!

The next pic shows the Hot Wheels 1/12th C6s - coupe and convert == had them about four years now. Both the '58s and the '05s are great additions to the display!

Randy i love your corvette display. I didn't know that Solido made the 58 Corvette in other colors thanks for showing them. I also like your Hot Wheels 1/12 05 Corvettes. Are they still available? I would like to get the coupe.

Thanks Allan. I saw a couple of the Hot Wheels coupes on eBay.

They are getting scarce and the price is going up. However I saw one under $90. last evening. The others have gone to mid one hundreds. I remember a silver and a red coupe on eBay. Type in Hot Wheels 1:12 Corvette and they should pop right up.

I appreciate your compliment on my display.

There were red and black '58s too!
