We could spend the rest of the month discussing the entire 1957 MoPar modern & freshΒ  line-up, and how it changed "everything"Β  as it shook up the industry, ended GM's styling reign, etc., etc., etc...Β  Β  Β Also, we could discuss (at nauseum ) that prior to the release of the movie Christine,Β  '57 -'59 Mopar values were so-so, then "BAHM!"Β

I'll just say that I've LOVED '57 Plymouth styling LONG before these cars became pop-culture icons.Β  From day one, 1957 Plymouth Furys had a dream car feel. Anson's version, that I've had forever, is good but Ertl's '58 Fury is a better model.

I much prefer the 1955/56 Plymouths; the '57/'58 styling seemed kind of bloated and chunky compared to its GM and Ford competition IMHO.Β  The whole Chryco Forward Look never really grabbed me but I do appreciate that it would have gotten well deserved attention for its radical change.Β  I love to see them at car shows nonetheless and appreciate their impact on automotive history.

Wow, you are certainly in the minority my friend. The 1957 Mopar Forward Look (started in '55 ) was a run-away success by every measure and sent all other domestic OEMs scrambling. "Bloated & chunky"Β  have always been adjectives used when describing 1958 GM products.Β  You're the first person I've ever known that thinks that of '58 Mopar vehicles.Β

@perrone1 Well thanks, but honestly..... I really thought these pics are pretty poor. I just couldn't capture "that dream car look."Β

It's actually an Anson from c.25 years ago with several modification (made by me ).Β  This tooling has since been gobbled up by AutoworldΒ  who offers it in their current 1/18 portfolio.Β

Ertl makes a 1/18 1958 Fury, which is a better model.Β  I have several of each. Years ago, I thought I could combine the best of both to make ONE GREAT Fury.... that project stalled for some reason.Β

I've had many Anson models and IMO they were really great at what they did.

Yep!Β  They had a few that were really nice, but I think the one I was most disappointed in was their '53 Eldorado. It was a hair under-scaled and the trunk didn't open. But like this '57 Fury, that tooling has also been commandeered by Autoworld.

Anson certainly had their short comings, but their overall proportions were very good especially their 1963 Thunderbird Sports Roadster. I have two which have now been painted with the same paint I used on my 1/1. No one has made a better model of this car in any scale because I have them all.

I agree, that's probably their best 1/18 model (if you ignore that chrome spare  😏 😏 😏) followed by this '57 Fury.

- Bob, it's very cool that you have a 1/18 Bird to match your 1:1.  😎 😎 😎

@chris Thanks Chris. I also have models of my 61 Vette and 55 Imperial. My wife does dioramas and she did a garage for me and the three models are in it.

I remember when they showed up in my neighborhood I thought they looked "fat" compared to the Fords and GMs and the fins were overdone....and I was just 5 years old.Β  Our next door neighbor traded in his '49 Ford for a new '58 Plymouth and I checked it out big time....same impression.Β  Our neighbor on the other side owned a light grey bathtub Nash......we owned a nice '57 Pontiac Safari wagon so I thought my neighbors had strange taste in cars.Β  I guess I was a weird little bugger.Β  Lol.
