This is a 1962 Watson Roadster, Smokey Yunick owned the car and he had a pit crew member by the name of Bruce Crower, yes the same Bruce Crower of Crower Cams, that helped Smokey Yunick get the wing built that is on this car. The wing was only run in practice and was removed for the race. Smokey Yunick was concerned that the drag of the wing down the straights would be too much for the 4 cylinder Offenhauser engine for 500 miles. Corning speeds were 146 MPH with the wing but the straightaway speeds were also right at 146 MPH due to the drag.
