Three decades ago 1/18 models were something to buy in big box stores and were no match for the 1/24 "precisions" models you could order from the Mints or Germany. Bburago of Italy offered a lot of their 1/18 models in kit form which with a bit of work, offered and upgrade from the norm. Here's two 1932 Alfa Romeo 2300s in spyder form with the aerodynamic fairing over the spares and the light weight race car as raced at Monza.

I have a blue & white version of the first one...they both look great with some added detail/weathering.
