It looks really good at any price ! An excellent Pontiac Trans-Am.
1/18 non-sealed, all opens, diecast that looks decent for about $20.... Not too shabby, right? 😎 😎 😎
That's hard to argue with. Looks like a decent model that's no worse than the ancient mold that GL or whoever is selling.
I'd love one at $20, I'm missing a late '70s TA.
Wow $ ! Where'd you find it ?

- Steve... These are on eBay now @ $34.99 - $39.99, but I assume they're at Costco for much less (usually they sell Maistos for $15 - $20 )
- Gavin... My thoughts exactly. 😀
Thanks Chris, I'll just have to wait a few more months before the Christmas stuff comes out. I think I want to get one even though I'm not a fan of that year Trans Am. it just looks pretty darn good and I wonder what manufacturer did the original.

I would guess its a new mold. Maisto/Bburago share molds, but I don't think I've ever seen them take over somebody else's.
I've had the ERTL version for several years. The model has the CB radio and antenna.
I would guess its a new mold.
That's how it's been advertised, "All new tooling by Maisto..."

👍
The Ertl version it comes with a huge out of scale CB antenna but I replaced that with a metal antenna to make it more realistic looking and to match the scene in the movie I included a hat to hang on the CB antenna. The hat actually came from my Shelby GT500 by Lane Exact Detail but it works perfect with the Bandit Trans Am.
@john3976 I must admit, that does look good, and those wheels certainly look better than Masito's (which is probably its weakest point ).
I assume the Masito does not have dog-leg door hinges which is a plus and the trunk opens...however I can see, but didn't realize, that your Ertl might have an opening trunk too, assuming it's not fixed in the closed position-as Ertl often does.
I have Yat Ming's 1/18 1979 Pontiac Trans Am. It is really well done and I like it a lot. A good friend of mine had a real 1:1 1980 Pontiac Trans Am that he got new. A very cool automobile and of course these cars make for terrific diecast models.
@chris The Ertl version trunk is not functional, Ertl did not install hinges in the trunk and instead used rivets to secure the trunk lid to the body.
