....these pics are TERRIBLE! I guess my settings are off. 🤔 🤔 🤔 With a 1/2-hour invested in this "shoot," I thought, "Just post them anyway...." Â
So.... here's a few HW61 1966 GTOs. Nice all around, right? Subtle pinstripe, vinyl top, great wheels & interior, the eng. & trunk check out fine, and here's one of the best fold-down filler door/gas caps you'll ever see.Â
Again, sorry about the awful pics. 😣 😣 😣Â
These are stunning models, as you say. The detail is sharp as a razor blade and looks so real. As per photography, as far as I can tell it is as good as ever. I look at your pictures and feel as if I'm walking into the garage and looking at the cars.
nice set, @chris. I really like that turquoise one. I have the Montero Red over light interior. I think H61 did a fantastic job on these.
These images look fine ! This is such a superb and detailed Highway 81 diecast from them and in turquoise, yellow (and red, too) is is a real beauty as both a 1:1 and 1/18 model.
@gavin YEAH! Now those are FANTASTIC pics Gavin, thank you! Yes, if/when I buy a real '66 or '67 (one car I've never owned ) it will be red/red!
Lovely models. My favorite is the yellow with the black vinyl roof. My first new car was a 1966 Buick Skylark GS 400 in green with a black vinyl roof, black interior and A/C.
@marty-johnson Yep! You've hacked-up a fair amount of quality diecast (worth a small fortune today 😬) as I recall. You certainly chopped up this HW61 but what choice did you have, and the result is spectacular! I'd say there's a happy ending to this story. 🙂
And well suprise, I think in the third pic I see a tire inflation valve... Am I wrong or am I right I want to give them so much kudos for adding that !!!!
in the third pic I see a tire inflation valve...
All or at least 95% or better of HW61 1/18 cars have valve stems. The original, first run cars, also featured opening glove boxes, fold-down sun visors, working suspensions, sliding front seats, working antennas, opening filler doors, and fully working drivelines....rotate the rear wheels and the driveshaft and fan blade would spin! All for $39.95!
Too bad those days are way, way gone now. 😞
@chris - One of the hardest parts of doing the Don Gay Infinity GTO wasn't hacking up a very superb model. The thing I struggled with most was the punctuation error on the Dickenson, Texas script. The original funny car had a space between "Dickenson" and the comma. Of course, that's incorrect, as there should NOT have been a space separating Dickerson and the comma. Although it went against the grain of my "Grammar police" mentality, I elected to copy the original car as it was actually presented. Â
Another issue I struggled with was the missing door handle. The original car removed the handle and left an open hole. Should I fill in the hole or mount the door handle? Again, trying to be cosmetically true to the 1:1 car, I left the open hole where the door handle would have been.Â
Â
@marty-johnson Hmm... I'm a bit surprised you struggled with those issues. I will duplicate graphics best I can regardless of grammatical errors, that's history. "Holes" are great! Anytime I can get by with less bodywork, is cause for celebration. Honestly, every time I look at your AWB Pontiac, that missing door handle makes me smile. It's a VERY cool & accurate detail! 😎
