a 1963 Ferrari 259 GTO at a private sale. If you had waited for an auction, a mere $48 million would have taken it. This Bizarrini /  Scaglietti  design was built on a modified 250 SWB  chassis  with a lower cross section nose and kammback rear. The 3.0 liter Colombo V12 ( '250' refers to the displacement of a single cylinder in ccs) produced 296 hp through a 5 speed gearbox. Although 100 units were necessary for homologation by the FIA for the Group 3 GT class, only 36 cars were produced between 1962 - '64. Enzo kept moving cars to various lots to fool officials into thinking there were 100 units on site. It was the last front engined car to be competitive in that class.

This is easily in the top 5 favorites in my collection (might actually be #1).  I never get tired of looking at it.

One of my absolute favorite cars of all time - I currently have 8 of the GTOs plus 3 of the 1964 variants - here are a few of mine

I love this Kyosho Ferrari 250 GTO. Mine is a road version with three vents on each side and  without decals.
