The quest for more speed and traction over the years have spawned many innovations that became obsolete in just a few years.
This 1962 Pontiac Catalina 421SD w/2X4bbl demonstrated the prevailing philosophy that raising the front end would transfer more weight to the rear upon acceleration. By 1965, this GTO was leveled out and employed ladder bars to prevent wheel hop and help negate the effects of torque that laterally shifted weight distribution.
