I purchased a Diecast Road Kings Truck from Diecast Marvel out of Canada, I copied and pasted the ad and you can see they have a 100% positive rating. See Photos of the diecast condition when the box was opened.

1/18 Diecast Road Kings Iveco Fiat TurboStar Scuderia Ferrari Truck *Brand New*
Item description from the seller
Brand new item in mint condition. It was never taken out of the box even for pictures.
**********************************************************************
The item was packaged in a Solido box that was heavy duty and as you can see from the photos the shipping box is not damaged, also the Road Kings box is in good condition as well. It was filled with styrofoam peanuts as well so it was packaged very well.
Here are two photos of the Road Kings Styrofoam clam shell that they package their diecast in, Road Kings tapes the two half's of the styrofoam claim shell together to keep the item secure. Notice there is no tape on the styrofoam clam shell, you can see where the tape was but the tape is missing. This is a red flag that someone has opened the box and opened the styrofoam clam shell. Following photos show what I found in the Styrofoam clam shell. Another red flag that this item had been removed from the box before shipping was Road Kings includes a piece of light protective paper to help protect the finish of the item while it is in the styrofoam clam shell, this paper had been removed and put back on but instead of laying smooth in the box over the diecast it was twisted around the diecast and over the cab someone had twisted it to keep the broken aero top from rattling and it looked like a Hershey Kiss candy the way it was twisted, that is not how Road Kings places the protective paper.
The areo piece that goes on top of the cab was broken off, you can see the broken parts in these photos. The muffler was also broken loose, the silver part in the photo is another part of the muffler. Notice the upper right side clearance light is broken off and missing.
This black piece is the sunshade and a side photo of the track showing the missing clearance light on the upper right side of the cab.
These two photos show the left and right sides of the upper cab, the clearance light is on the left side and broken off the right side, also see how the sunshade wraps around the cab with a slot for the clearance light on the left side but on the right side the bottom part of the wrap around of the sunshade is broken off and you can see the broken remains of the clearance light where it attaches to the upper cab.
Diecast Marvels is trying to blame the damage on FEDEX during shipping. Three major problems with that, 1. The shipping box is not damaged. 2. The Tape is missing from the Styrofoam clam shell that Road Kings puts on them to seal the calm shell shut to protect the item. 3. If this was purely shipping damage then why is the right upper clearance light missing completely from the box and why is the broken right lower wrap around also missing from the box from the broken sunshade.
This is not shipping damage and the missing tape from the styrofoam clam shell alone is proof someone had opened this item. The listing said this was a new in mint condition diecast, never removed from the box even for pictures.
Just be careful if you see a listing from this vendor, this item was clearly opened and from all the damage someone had taken this out of the box. These Road Kings trucks are very well packaged but the missing tape around the styrofoam clam shell and you can see where tape was on the clam shell along with two of the broken pieces completely missing from the box says this is not shipping damage, someone had this truck out of the box at some point before it was shipped. I have to conclude the damage was prior to shipping and I was sold a damaged item listed as new in mint condition never removed from the box. All the damage to the top of the Diecast and two pieces completely missing from the box along with the muffler broken loose along with a second part of the muffler broken loose that are on the bottom of the diecast yet no damage to the shipping box just does not add up as shipping damage.
If the tape had still been on the styrofoam clam shell and the protective paper inside the clam shell was properly covering the Diecast and the two broken pieces were not missing completely from the box then I would say this was shipping damage from rough handling but the missing tape, improper placing of the protective paper and the two missing pieces that are broken but not in the box says this damage happened before it was packaged for shipping.
Just what you need: more stress in your life.
The ultimate question - are they going to make good on this and send you another one?
@franklemire They contacted me but they are pushing this was all shipping damage so they are asking what went wrong with FEDEX, with all the red flags I found this was not shipping damage so I doubt FEDEX will take responsibility for a claim and I don't think they should. The shipping box was not damaged nor does if look like it was mistreated. I have received some pretty torn up shipping boxes before but this one is not one of them.
I doubt they are going to do anything other than try to pass it off on FEDEX, they only replied to me once and went dark after that. So I am pretty much resigned that there won't be anything else done. These Ferrari trucks are hard to find, they only made 700 of them. They make the same truck in regular paint schemes but only 700 of the Ferrari trucks.
I think they should at least refund $50 dollars of purchase price. I have glued it back together but it will never be right as the broken sunshade and the broke missing clearance light can't be fixed. There is some minor paint damage where the sunshade wraps around on both the left and right side as well.
Here is a before and after photo, the top has to be handled with care because all four attachment points were broke off with thee of them broke off at both ends.
John you must fight fire with fire. Hit these a******s where it hurts: "Payment!"
- If you paid with your Credit Card, open a dispute claim with them. The CC company will withdraw funds until an amicable resolution is reached. (I've had to do this before, it works! ).
- If you paid using PAYPAL, you're entitled to also file a dispute claim. PAYPAL will help YOU resolve this matter. (I've done this before too, it works! )
- I doubt you paid by check, so we won't discuss options at this time.
- Lastly, I know you think that Diecast Marvel has written you off, trust me... you have the last word. You can hound them incessantly through phone calls, emails and most importantly on their Social Media pages, Instagram, Facebook, Website, etc...
- BE RELENTLESS. I've been there before (even had to go to court a few times )... I have won, you can too.
- Good luck, keep us posted!
