This 1967 Ford Fairlane 390 GTA was a really nice road car. The Z-code 390 put out a respectable 335 HP and with its C6 3 speed automatic, it was easy to drive. I loved that 390. I had the same setup in my '68 Galaxy fastback and it was a workhorse. I put about 300,000 miles on it before putting it out to pasture.
For the more serious guy who wanted a street legal potent drag car, this 1966 Fairlane 427 R-code hardtop was one of only 57 made. Rated at 425 HP and 480 lb/ft of torque, it was mostly sold with a 4 speed manual. Oversized front disc brakes and 9" 4:11 rear was standard along with a beefed up suspension. It had many successes in the Super Stock class.
Awesome pics Rich of two of my favorites! I have this in mint green w/light tan interior. I've always appreciated the HEFT of GMP models, this one included. Except for the slightly wider-than-stock front wheel track, these are great replicas, loaded with authentic detail. I wish ALL models had magnetized hubcaps and/or wheelcovers! 🤔 🤔
I too have the mint green. I agree the GMP models are terrific and hold up well with the mint cars.
"I too have the mint green."
In addition to Marty's slick street rod version.... he had, if I recall correctly, another - a mint green - that he sacrificed for his Mercury drag / funny car project. The man has guts! 😬 😬 😬
@chris - LOL! A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do! There were literally no other options.
I will say that disassembling the GMP Fairlane taught me a lot about why their cars were soooooooo good! GMP did metal where other makers did plastic. Where one piece would suffice to reproduce a component, GMP would use two or three.
