This is Yat Ming's really well-done '71 Buick Riviera in cream with a light saddle-brown vinyl top. It was a good-looking personal luxury car with a V-8 engine under the hood. My Dad almost got one of these before getting a Pontiac Granville with the 455 cid 4-bbl V-8 engine under the hood.
YM did a fine job on this 1/18 and it displays and photographs great. At one time, columnist/videographer Joe Kelly reported that Yat Ming also had a 1/18 1967 Cadillac Eldorado personal luxury car under consideration, although this didn't end up being done.
In any case, this '71 Buick is a real gem and it has been done in several colors and also in 1/43 scale by them.
I never liked that pseudo boat tailed monstrosity. I keep waiting for someone to do the second generation Riviera. I thought that looked so much better.
The Riviera from 1966 through 1973 are my favorite years. As a kid, I spent a bunch of time in the back seat of a '66. I got to drive a '71 (underage but loads of fun) a bit later 2 different '73s. Land yachts was a good term for them.
Great photos, it's always a pleasure to see your shots.
You guys will laugh... but for me, the two most impactful Rivieras (excluding anything from the 1950's ) are the "first & last" ones. Most of the other years were good, but the "book ends" stand out. I'd love to see Buick bring it back, but that's highly unlikely.

"Yeah, highly unlikely. Like Lincoln, Buick doesn't build cars anymore."
Sadly, there are only 5 American cars left: Cadillac's CT4 & CT5, Chevrolet's Corvette, Dodge's Charger, and Ford's Mustang..... IMO, quite an unbelievable turn of events - although completely understandable. Consumer tastes have changed dramatically in the last few decades.
