The 1936 Auto Union Type C 16 cylinder was converted to twin wheels on a live axle to accomodate  getting all that torque to the ground for hill climb racing, hence the name "Bergrennen". This car was successfully raced by "King of the Mountain" Hans Stuck (this model) and all around champion driver Bernd Rosenmeyer (the figure). This is another modeling triumph by CMC.

Funny, I was just reading about the V16 in this car in a deep dive article in Hagerty's Driver's Club magazine.  Interesting stuff!

Great looking model, especially with those dual rear wheels.

Normally dual rear wheels are bad for traction, but with the weight of the engine/transaxle at the rear of the car likely helped with that problem.
