In 2009, Audi celebrated the hundred year anniversary of the Audi brand founded by August Horch after leaving his namesake company. By 1932, Audi sported the four rings of the Auto Union of Audi, Horch, Wanderer and DKW. As part of its celebration, the engineers at Audi built a recreation of the 1935 Audi 225 Front Special Roadster. Only two of the FWD roadsters were made and both were lost to history. To memorialize this painstaking labor of love, CMC went all out on their 1/18 model. The hood is stamped sheet metal with a myriad of open louvers. The shut lines are scale tight and detailing and parts count abound.
I didn't know that was the origin of the Audi name.....interesting!
An extraordinary model well photographed. I missed this masterpiece but enjoyed the history lesson Rich.
