Here's two period race car models from the early '50s. The first is Exoto's fabulous Ferrari 500 F2 as driven by Giuseppi "Nino" Farina in the 1952 Swiss Grand Prix. It has an astounding level of detail, fit and finish. The second model is the alfa-Romeo Alfetta 159M as driven by Juan Manuel Fangio in the 1951 British Grand Prix. This Alfa was a virtually all metal kit build by Revival and I did my best spending many hours just chasing the individual metal parts as by the time I bought this release some 20 odd years ago, the dies were getting a bit worn. I did my best to assemble and detail the model and although it's not an Exoto, which was released many years later, if you stand a few feet back, it looks pretty darned nice.... hence, I never sprung for the big bucks for the Exoto model.
wow, those look outstanding!
Superbly done! They look great!
Excellent post with great images. The Revival for price was excellent value and does not look out of place next to the Exit. Thanks Rich.
