It took 11 years, but in 1975 Scuderia Ferrari and Niki Lauda took home all the marbles with both the Drivers and Constructors titles in this Ferrari 312 T bringing back the 12 cylinder series. The 3.0 liter DOHC for each bank flat 12 produced 495 HP and was linked to a new shorter 5 speed multi-clutch transmission that allowed the chassis to be shorter to concentrate where needed. Lauda won Monaco, Belgium, Sweden, France and the US with Clay Regazzoni winning Monza. The model is by Exoto and added some accessories and Lauda (before he got his face burned) and a crew chief which I got from a Tamiya F1 accessories in kit form.

Outstanding post Rich - as always, great pics!

And yes, "Ferrari makes a comeback!"   You're no doubt aware of this; it took place just a few days ago.     Wow-wee!    😯 😯 😯

@chris I wonder if the buyer is banking on the Luce being discontinued.

@rich-sufficool It was a charity auction - which tend to yield selling prices north of true values, however, by ALL accounts everyone was surprised by this figure.     I too wonder about that buyer's rational behind his unbelievable winning bid.    🤔 🤔 🤔

Me thinks a few letters were left out of the spelling of “Luce”… let’s try “Lunacey”…ok it’s not an exact match but close enough 🤣

@chris  He didn't get to 40 mil by himself.  We have to remember others were bidding him up.  As far as 'shorting' this stock (the Luce), well it is one helluva gamble and many have lost their butts shorting stocks, though some have cleaned up in the process.  Like I said, it is a helluva gamble.

Alternatively, if it was for charity, it will make for a very nice deduction, though it would have to be a corporation to be able to absorb that amount on their tax return.

Stunned by the Luce auction, but back to the Ferrari 312T 1975 wonderful year. As a F1 fan back then and still, I was mesmerized. Great post and images, Rich.

"Alternatively, if it was for charity, it will make for a very nice deduction."

And that's the key; I've seen this before.   Charity auctions tend to result in "over-bidding for a good cause."

I hate to be 'that guy' but it is Niki Lauda not Niki Lauder
