By 2005, Ferrari's front engine 575M Maranello Berlinetta which took cues from the 365 GTB/4 and the egg crate grill of the 1953 375 MM. Enzo decided to make a limited number (559) with a retractable roof called the Superamerica. it featured a glass roof with carbon fiber supports that contained an electrochromic fluid that allowed the driver to dial up or down the tint. The 5.7 V12 was tweaked 20 more horsepower to 540 probably to compensate for the weight of the roof. Offered was an optional ultra-fast 6 F1 speed paddle shift with launch control over a 6 speed manual with all but 50 or so not choosing the $10,000 F1 option. There was only one serious complaint about the car: an significant number of owners complained of the Electrochromic fluid leaking. Unfortunately the solution was to replace the whole roof... I can only imagine what that cost.
