My wife just returned from her twice/year trip to Taiwan.  Her older brother gave me a model for the Chinese New Year.  It's outside my usual collecting interests, but of course, the gracious thing to do is ALWAYS to accept the kind gesture with enthusiasm.  I sent him photos.

Looks nicely done - probably a great commuter car.

The 1:1 real car was only sold in China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.  Definitely a commuter car with a bit of a sporty attitude in its appearance.

Actually, the rear doors are sealed. Only way they're gonna open is for me to package up the car and send it to...

No sir, those rear doors are NOT sealed - or at least they should NOT be.   That 1/18 Mitsubishi Grand Lancer is sold in three colors: Red, White, and Blue and "everything opens."   If your rear doors are sealed shut, then someone GLUED them shut.  😬 😬 😬

I LIKE it, it's a cool looking little piece of transportation. And looking at the first set of pics, I'd have sworn those back doors would not open - the gaps are too perfect. But!!!  Cool!

Marty, I'm with you. When someone gives me the gift of a model car, even if it's nothing I would normally collect, I thank them for it and it becomes a part of my collection. Each time I look at these gifts, I'm fondly reminded the person who gave it to me.
