Many decades ago, once development and production costs were amortized, or a company went bankrupt many of the toolings were scrapped for metal content. For many companies didn't own their toolings but were rather the property of their China based vendors. Even with promo makers like AMT and Johan, only a small number remain to be bought or licensed by intrepid entrepreneurs for re-release. GMP had the foresight to by out the toolings that the defunct Lane Exact Detail had and released them under their new Acme brand. SInce then, we've also seen H-61 models resurrected by Acme. This 1970 Pontiac GTO "Judge" Ram Air Vl in Orbit Orange with Lane tooling got new new life when the tooling was leased to the aptly named "Retro Hobby" as a limited edition of 250.
@john3976 It was Lane first. GMP just changed the chassis plate. That was ages ago before we got our Zone car. Google 1970 Lane GTO.

I tried to do a search but nothing comes back, all I can find for the Pontiac GTO Judge is GMP. Even the photo you posted when you click on it lists the GTO as a GMP and the Oldsmobile Cutlass 442 and the Chevrolet Chevelle SS as Lane.
My GMP has the A/C compressor, the ACME release doe not have the A/C compressor.
Rich, I have searched hi and low and the only Pontiac I can find by Lane Exact Detail is the first generation Firebird, I can't find anything with Lane Exact Detail producing a GTO. You peaked my interest as I was curious to see a GTO from Lane Exact Detail. While you are correct about ACME purchasing tooling from defunct diecast companies such as Lane Exact Detail and Highway 61 and they have released new versions under the ACME brand as well as licensing to others for limited runs the GTO from what I can find was a GMP product.
I'm pretty sure @john3976 is correct...these were originally GMP molds. Lane ED never did the 2nd gen GTO.
