Driving down the road, something caught my eye. It seemed to be an old Plymouth in someone's backyard. So intrigued, I got my camera and stole quietly into the backyard and it was a derelict 1962 Plymouth Sport Fury drag car 'badged' as a 413 V8 (7.2 liters). I thought it was odd for the time to mark the displacement in liters (especially when spelled 'Litre'). The first time I ever saw badging in liters was on the 389 GTO at 6.7 liters and that was  years later. The front end wasn't sitting up too high so perhaps the engine was still in it. There were exhaust dumps protruding underneath. On the fender are 3 MOPAR triangles which could signify track wins. The correct metal hood scoop made me wonder if it was a factory drag car. I was hoping to see some restoration work done as it appears to be brought from Minnesota to New Jersey for that purpose. I kept an eye on the car but one day it just disappeared so I never knew what the cars fate was. I don't know if you can make the faded script out on the trunk deck but it reads, "Where Were You In '62" so it may have been run for many years.

This would be a great car to restore; especially if it had a 413.  It's arguably an ugly duckling but it would be an interesting car to see finished.
