You'll recall I had to have this....why not, right? I verified it's in true 1/18 scale (thank you Greenlight ) but was disappointed with the sealed hood and straight-axle-no-steering. 4.5 hours of hard labor produced a handful of scratch-built parts.... my USPS Mail truck NOW has steering.

There's nothing like posing a model with the front wheels NOT straight ahead to add a more realistic look. I admire your commitment for such a modestly priced model.

Yep! My thoughts exactly. 😉 ...and it's the modestly priced models, but only those with "good bones," that require the most help. There's really not much I can improve on CMCs or Exotos.

Looks better with the steering working; the engines in these were the GM 4 cylinder Iron Duke.

Being a strictly 43rd scale collector, I just had to have one of these iconic vehicles in that scale so since no model company made one, I just scratch built one using photos taken at the PO garage where the staff was very concerned about what I was doing with my camara. Their concern was relieved when a few weeks later I showed up with the model!

John, I'm impressed. One day I hope to add "scale mail & papers" like you did! I'm truly surprised to discover that YOU'RE CORRECT; I can't find any 1/43 Grumman LLVs. The closest is 1/36 scale. How can that be? So many are offered in other scales. You did a nice job here. I suppose you could at least pair it up with GL's 1/43 large Grumman USPO truck. Thanks for sharing John, this was a real treat to see. 😎 😎 😎
