Proving he could win in ANY car, Bill "Grumpy" Jenkins forsook his Chevys one time to win the "Stock Eliminator" at the 1965 Winter Nationals with this S/SA Hemi Belvedere ll "Black Arrow". Prepped by his "Jenkin's Competition" team in Berwyn, PA with headers, new piston rings, drag shocks and whatever else he could get away with, he kept the Torqueflite tree shifter so to the naked eye looked bone stock. The car no longer exists, but you wonder if they took a cutting torch to it making an Altered Wheelbase drag car for the following year. Having had this one year only Satellite CV, I bought this model when released in 2007 just for the memories. I should have realized that as a limited edition of 1500 that there's be more to come.

I saw Bill Jenkins race his Chevy's several times. Mostly his "Grumpy's Toy" Camaro. But never had the experience of seeing him race the MoPar!! Cool Machine!!

Just another terrific HW61, period-correct, drag Mopar and wonderfully photographed too!   I'm grateful HW61 recognized the importance of these vintage racers; they churned out some beautiful replicas.  I'm equally glad most were also available in stock  configurations.

This Plymouth looks really good and I also have a stock one from H61 in white. A terrific diecast from Highway 61.

The Grump never drove funny cars so I doubt this Satellite was converted to an AWB by him.  In fact, I doubt it would have at all because in 1966 the '65s were already rendered obsolete.  Grump ran a Nova in 1966.

LOVE those 66 - 67 Nova's!!!

One of my first "authentic & serious"  1/10 R/C cars (from c.36 years ago -YIKES! ) was a 1966 Nova.   Everyone who saw it, loved it!   At that time, it was state-of-art.  I adapted the Marlowe Johnson approach;  I spared no expense.  😀 😀

@marty-johnson Who knew?

Here's a crazy footnote:  About 100 years ago  I acquired 3 of these 1/18 Ertl Novas for almost NO money; I only wanted the steelie wheels (for other projects ).   I offed  the 3 cars sans the wheels.   It worked out perfectly; I made money, so my wheels were free.   Who knew years later, these Novas would fetch north of $100!    🙄 🙄 😫 😒

 But I never got my convertible.

Piece of cake; EZ-peazy stuff!   Take one of these, cut the top off, do a little interior and exterior work, add some wheelcovers (or wires, or leave the steelies ) & whitewalls....  Done!  😎 😎
