That is soo cool looking..
Creative indeed Marty. Love the water sports especially. The 59 with three continentals was over the top.
...ah yes, the Yat-Minger 1955 Ford Crown Victoria.
This project has been on my backburner for 20+ years. I want to combine this '55 body (with opening trunk ) with a '56 Ertl to create the 1:1 shown - in those colors. I love the plane-Jane, no frills look of this basic 1956 Ford Sunliner.
Of course, it may be easier to simply cut the trunk out of the Ertl... 🤔 🤔 🤔
Either way, thank you Marlowe for reminding me of my laziness. 😌 😌 😌
Nice ones ! And the "altered" versions are a real hoot, lol ! I have scale editions by YM of this one in 1/18 and 1/43 and they are extremely cool Fifties vehicles to display.
The pastel color, roof, skirts, and the continental kit all just do it for me. It brings back fond childhood memories of when I saw cars adorned with all of these options rolling past me!
That is one very fine looking low budget model. What a shame that those days are gone. 😭
The 55 Ford is one of my favorite Yatmings. I have the blue and white, the red and black and the yellow and black.
What a shame that those days are gone.
1/18 budget models are still with us, what's gone are the days of brick & mortar stores blowing them out at $5.00 - $19.99 I sure miss Toy Liquidators, Toys R Us, Circus World, Kiddie Land, KB Toys, Children's Palace, K-mart, etc... 😔 😔
Chris, I agree the red and black looks best. I think the 55 through 57 Fords look best in red and black.
Marty I agree with your thoughts. Years ago, I had a 58 Impala hardtop with a continental kit, skirts, dual antennas and the spinner wheel covers. My car had the 348 four barrel. Great memories indeed.
There was a KB store at the Citadel Outlets in Commerce off the 5 Fwy. That's only about 20mins WB from D'Land. They liquidated big time ! Every so often there'd be a model sale at the hotel on premises. I got a great deal on some Bang 1/43 Ford GTs and a 1/18 Opel GT. The seller didn't have the Opel box, said he'd mail it to me. Turns out he lives near Lego Land in Carlsbad. I tell him that my brother and I are going to be near him so he invites us to visit. We had a great time viewing his model and other memorabilia collection and made some great purchases. He was selling because he had cancer and knew his son wasn't interested in keeping anything. His prized piece was the 1941 Dodge PU that his grandfather owned which he had restored right down to the gas rationing window sticker. This was in about '03 or 4 and lost touch with him. He was such a fantastic person. I hope he recovered 👍
I remember those Crown Vic Skyliners and Mercury Sun Valleys as a kid. I don't know if the tinting got sun damaged easily or what, but I don't believe I ever saw one on the road where the glass looked very clear and transparent but I never saw a show room fresh one either.
