Who doesn't love the Ferrari GTO? Without a doubt, 1:1 collectors love it! Someone just forked over an eye-popping $70.2 Million for one! I would have purchased it myself, but although I had a ton of checks, apparently, the substantive part BEHIND the checks came up a bit short! So, instead, I opted for the next best thing, the CMC Ferrari GTO, albeit on a slightly smaller scale. Aside I can see it displayed every day in my office, it gets much better gas mileage, too! Nyah! Â
I've photographed it with all of the rest of my high-end Ferraris from CMC, Exoto, and BBR. I left out other players like Mattel, Kyosho, Burago, etc. They're nice, but they're not quite the offerings from CMC, Exoto, and BBR. Â
Oh! I almost forgot! The CMC GTO is the FIRST of my 38 Ferrari cars that isn't red! Â
Â
Beautiful addition, Marlowe! Really like the red interior against the black. Looks excellent with the other 250 Series Ferraris.
A tremendously impressive scale display that I would bet not many could duplicate. Stunning, hardly begins to describe it. The ONLY thing that I would do, after I wipe my drooling mouth (and I'm not even a Ferrari guy! ) is add a few accessories & high-end, hand painted figures. No dime-store-phony-figures please! That would be blasphemous!
Man! What genuinely captivating display! Very, very cool! 😎 😎Â
Congrats Marty on an absolutely beautiful acquisition !Â
Any idea of the number of parts content ?Â
SteveÂ
What a beautiful Ferrari car and 1/18 replica !
@100ford2003 - The parts are 2200, but don't forget that it has wire wheels. That has to constitute a lot of the parts content.
Dayum !!!!Â
Have you ever done the w/w on a Pocher Mercedes Benz ?Â
I was looking forward to it...lol... But then I sold the unassembled kit.Â
Darn.... SteveÂ
@100ford2003 - I assume you're referring to the 540k? I sold it a couple of years ago. I don't have a photo of my actual car, but I did paint the whitewalls. And for me, the biggest victory was completing the wire wheels! I managed to get the chassis and engine completed, but I stopped when Pocher was expecting me to sew the convertible top and upholster the interior. Both of those skills are beyond my capability. Â
Here is a photo that duplicates how far I got with my 540k. Â
What a magnificent model Marty. I love my Kyosho but this one outclasses it in every way, except possibly colour. Your high end Ferrari grouping is impressive also. Thanks for sharing.
I have that Pocher still unfinished and close to what you show here. I did built the Fiat, two Alfas and a Rolls Royce by Pocher but ran out of ‘oomph’ when I got to the 540K about 35 years ago. I still have them tucked away. Maybe time for another look.
@david-green - Congratulations for actually completing a classic Pocher! Not many people can say they've completed one, much less four! Wow! And of course, we're talking about the classic series and not the much easier-to-build prestige series of the Ferraris and Porsche 997. Â
My understanding is the Lamborghini and Ducati motorcycle models level of difficulty are somewhere in between the classic and prestige series. For investment purposes, I recently acquired two Pocher Lotus 72D models. My understanding is the level of difficulty is almost prestige level but not quite. Â
Thanks for the pictures and alert Marty, just ordered it, the black is LE of 600, planning to buy few of the other GTO's coming but will likely wait for sales. They will hang around for some time but the black will likely disappear soon.
Another exquisite museum piece from CMC. Congrats, Marty.
