I'm not a 1:18 person at all, but I was browsing our local free evening newspaper online today and came across this.

Officially Licensed AC Cobra 1:18-Scale 289 Diecast Car Sculpture: 1:18-Scale 1963 AC Cobra 289 Diecast Car

I had no idea whether it is a worthwhile item or an overpriced rip-off, but I noticed it was done for them by Norev (or "NoRev" as they call them). So I looked online and found original Norev Cobras priced at around £70 retail (or £260 on eBay, which kind of surprised me.) I don't know whether the detailing and finish is any improvement over the original Norev issue or whether they are trying to sucker people into buying an "exclusive collectible" .

Just thought I'd draw it to your attention. They do other "classic" cars at what look like pretty hefty prices (£250 - £300) and although they claim "these versions are available only from us" they actually seem to be made for them by people like SunStar - maybe just with a colour change?

That's just Bradford Exchange marketing hype. That very same model can be found elsewhere for less. Unless they cut an exclusive deal for that color.

Similarly, The Danbury Mint would negotiate deals with established diecast manufactures, such as HW61, to offer exclusive paint schemes & liveries. Aside from color, the models were identical to offerings sold anywhere else.

Companies such as the Fairfield Mint simply "hyped-up"  the very same models found elsewhere and were notorious for replacing most original packaging with their own "official"  boxes & inserts.

BOTTOM LINE: Unless that color is exclusive to Bradford and you want that, look elsewhere, you'll find better pricing. 😀

That's what I figured. The Bradford Exchange is a "mint" and offers a range of hyped-up "unique" items, probably based on cheaper offerings already available and just dressed up in new packaging.

That's an outstanding color combo & one I possibly would have picked had it been available as a regular release & not a Bradford exclusive.  I bought the black over red Norev 289 & think it is outstanding...other than the lack of opening features.

- All great Cobras gentlemen, but still the BEST 1/18 Cobras are Exotos... and the BEST, in a slightly larger scale - 1/12, are GMPs & Kyoshos.  But that green Norev does looks great and so does the black & red! 😎 😎 😎

absolutely.  I do wish I'd grabbed one of the 260/289 Exotos when they were reasonably priced.

100% true story:  I can still VIVIDLY remember calling my friend (Mustang/Shelby/Cobra expert ) and excitedly telling him that the Exoto website, "right now,"  has MOST 1/18 Cobras ON SALE for $89 - $99!  While we were talking, he ordered $1,200 worth!

The 1:12 GMP model is just astounding in execution and detail.  I absolutely love this model!
