The Lamborghini Miura was a beautiful and powerful street car with its body designed by Nuccio Bertone. Because Lamborghini would not countenance racing , Bizzarini and Dallara left the firm, leaving development to Paolo Stanzini and Bob Wallace. The Miura was more powerful than its chassis, suspension and aerodynamics could control, and although racing was out of the question, the two set out of make a one off racing Miura to test the car's limits. It was called the Jota which seemed to refer to a "J" section of the FIA rule book as there is no "J" in their language. The body remained basically the same with the addition of aerodynamic skirts and spoilers. Under the body, however, is a new, lighter and more rigid frame, upgraded suspension, vented discs and 15' wheels. The 3.9 liter V12 was given 11:1 compression, open exhausts and a battery of Weber carbs achieving 440 HP, giving the car modern performance stats of 0-60 in 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 190 mph. The Jota was finally sold to a very persistent individual who immediately wrecked and totaled the car. Although a proven test bed, another Jota was never built. Lamborghini did sell a few Miura SVJs which did not match the Jota's performance. Model by Kyosho:
Thanks for the history, Rich. Kyosho this a beautiful rendition of this unique Lamborghini.
The 3.9 liter V12 was given
3.9 liter seems a rather small displacement for a V-12, but I suppose they wanted less weight and more torque... ???
Great looking & beefy Kyosho model!
@chris Well, the V12 actually displaces 3929 cc, if that extra 29 cc makes it seem a bit brawnier.
