Kyosho's 12th Cobra 427S/C K08632S
Call me a dinosaur: collecting this scale size , with even faster diminishing offerings than other scales,I'm not quite ready for the Tar Pits just yet. Kyosho's recent release of the silver #6 racing version has given me a few more gasps of air. These large replicas make quite a presence in a collection, no doubt about it. This is a well done , but not entirely accurate rendition of the 1966 Sebring car driven by Grossman/Lowther to their class win- it is copy of the car at the Shelby Museum. Excellent paintwork however, readable dash gauges- only 23 miles on the odometer! Braided lines to the oil cooler are present as are some lines in the drivetrain. I like it:

A bit odd they would do the 'restored' car.........
but the car does look better in USRRC configuration with just the 'eyebrow' wind screen instead of the full windshield that was mandated by the FIA.
For me the thing that puts this otherwise beautiful model down a peg is the radiator cooling fans.
Still - it is a great model and you have photographed it beautifully.

Simple really.................
they didn't use fans on the race cars.
In races you are averaging speeds that are high enough that you do not need a fan to get air through the radiator.

think how the people at Kyosho must feel. They added a detail that they didn't have to - that is money they could have put in their pocket.
Leaving something out is one thing, put putting something in that you didn't have to is a real sin.

You know the other thing is the Sebring version had auxiliary lights for night running which don't help it's appearance.
Now they've done this, wish they'd do a Ken Miles, Scuderia Filipinetti or Essex Wire version in 1:18.

David, Do you have the GMP Cobras in 1:12th? maybe you could apply your talents to one of those?
