Another 'little person' arrived from China and she is a bit of fun. For another diorama I am planning, I ordered a Singapore policewoman and her motorcycle will arrive next week. As an aside, does anyone know where I can find a 1:18 scale motorcycle helmet - without a head attached? I will have to reshoot her without flash, for the front view, as the finish sends off a glare that makes her open mouth look out of shape. (The bike in the photo is a Harley, of course.)
I also received a 1:43 teen for a car showroom, but I haven't had a chance to take a pic of him, yet. I am ordering two more figures to go with him.
So, Mister Moroni, you were definitely right about spending to get quality. Nothing is perfect, but these figures I have been receiving are very close. I have some in the 1:24 scale coming in a couple of weeks and I will do a comparison pic with the standard figures I have and the new arrivals, at that time.
"So, Mister Moroni, you were definitely right about spending to get quality."
Yeah..... "The best" will always cost more, unless you have a gun. 😆 😉 She looks great! As for 1/18 helmets.... I have a few that were held in the hands of 1/18 NASCAR drivers. These scale figures, however, started off as Christmas tree ornaments. You might want to search for that kind of "stuff." - just a thought. 🤔 🤔 🤨
Of course, a bit of effort will be required to convert these from NASCAR to Police use.....
@chris Just a bit of paint work, I think. I have a brand new, unused airbrush system I am setting up in the workshop. It was a present several years ago for my restoration work, but I preferred hand-painting for those projects. Time to get creative.
I only have two "little people." Tommy Ivo came with the twin-engine dragster. Mario Andretti was a kind gift from another collector. I've added Bart Simpson (Don't have a cow, man!) and Mr. Box from Jack In The Box restaurants. Yeah, I know, I know! Those last two shouldn't even be in the conversation. But, the impish gene in me cannot help but have a little fun!
@marty-johnson Good question... but no, not even close. I have hundreds of figures, but it all started with this guy - sitting on a box. 😉
- Over 30 years ago, long before the cottage industry for 1/18 figures had even been thought of, one had to source 4" figures from anyplace they could be found.
- "Box guy" started as a nautical gift shop souvenir "man sitting on stump building model ships." He measured out perfectly but required modification to appear appropriate in a shop setting.
- Next came, "accident victim on stretcher" followed by "driving & waving guy." I've modified about 30 figures since the late 1990's/early 2000's when these were done. I've generated an A.I. 1/18 of my wife - but I need CAD files to actually print her; she's only 2-D now.
- Dude, you NEED more figures. "Two" is good, 20 would be better! - and, I LOVE THE SIMPSONS but get Bart the hell out of that wonderful Cadillac! 😉 😉 😉
