Sorry to hear that! Wow, just what's happening? I've never had a problem.

Can you post some pics? Are they in original boxes?

I ask as i haven't had any problems...but it's always a + to hear of others shipping issues to help prevent any problems.

It might have something to do with the source(s) I'm using to obtain the models...

... I've been trying to replace a bunch of models that were destroyed in an accident and most of them are out of production. As a result, I've been buying a lot from eBay and other auction sites. Although most of the models I get are in great condition, every once in a while, I get one like the one I received today that is completely beyond repair (for me, anyway)!

I used to order stuff from the 'bay without any problems, but lately, I'd say that almost 20% of them arrive damaged. I'm not really sure about the reason for the upswing.

I'll try to post some pictures later, if I can remember how to do it...

... And, yes, all of them have been in "the original boxes," although a few were packed in the box without the inner box sleeve (Ertl) or the original shipping straps and there was little or no effort made to secure it otherwise (people just don't seem to have much common sense). As a result, there was a LOT of space left open for movement inside the box.

Had the same thing happen twice in one week.....

This car pictures was bought on eBay and was packed the best I have ever seen. Car was secured as original, straps still on it, display box was wrapped in tissue, then covered in thick box type cardboard placed in a thick oversize shipping box, lined with same thickness inner pieces. This was like the Fort Knox of packing and you can see how it arrived. 16 plus years buying and shipping 1000's of diecast cars and I have never seen on this destroyed packed this well. photo no longer available

Wow! That's the worst I've ever seen! It looks like it was run over with a lawnmower!

I've had this happen so often recently that I now "worn" sellers to "PACK WELL."

Yet AGAIN, today I received ONE model and, guess what! Yep, it's broken!!! >:^( ... Fortunately, THIS one isn't too bad. I'm pretty sure I can glue it back together and be satisfied.

It's an awfully strange type of damage, though; it's a Highway 61 '69 Plymouth Barracuda and it has the old molded plastic inner packaging with the brass rivets holding it together. It clearly has never been removed from the packaging (the riveted fastenings are still intact), but one small corner of the front bumper has been broken off. It was loose in the box, but doesn't seem to have caused any further damage to the paint or anything else, so that's fortunate, at least.

So, this is not a huge problem, just a minor annoyance. However, it's beginning to seem like I can't mail-order anything anymore and expect it to show up intact.

I'm going to start doing that too, Christopher! I'm a pretty laid-back person and I really...

... do not like having to tell folks what I think should be obvious, but this is ridiculous!

By the way, I can't blame ALL of this on the delivery folks; I have a sneaking suspicion that some of these models were damaged before I ever placed the order!

For example, I got an Ertl '73 Trans Am model recently from a seller on the 'bay. The seller's description said, "box has slight shelf wear." When I received it, there was NO inner-packaging whatsoever (the model was attached to the base, but the model and base were just floating around loosely inside the box with no additional effort made to secure it), and the box looked like it had been dropped into a water puddle and then run over by a semi!

I contacted the seller, already pretty irritated, and she tried to tell me that the damage "occurred in shipping," despite the fact that the outer shipping box was in pristine condition!

Fortunately, the model itself wasn't damaged and I hadn't paid much for it anyway.

You really just can't count on anything anymore!

Nope! It's the white one, but I've been watching one of the copper ones and may get it eventually.

Alan, I too have stories. All of mine, however, are good ones...because.......

.. I have tons of spare parts and/or I know how to fix most issues. Furthermore, SEVERAL of my latest purchases were free (full refund)...thanks to eBay.

But, like you.... I hate to "bug" people (sellers) by telling them how to pack but enough is enough!

I've had "100% POSISTIVE feedback" sellers simply "toss" models in a box, no bubble wrap, foam..NOTHING!

'Come-on!!
