Sunstar 1959 Pontiac Interior Swap

I understand that Sunstar will be releasing the 1959 Pontiac convertible in white. I have been waiting for this colour as my brother had a 1:1 white 1959.The problem is, the interior colour planned for the white car is all wrong. The correct colour can be found in Sunstar's latest red convertible . Has anyone ever done an interior swap between 2 Sunstar Platinum cars, especially the 1959 Pontiac? Is it a difficult process? I am especially concerned about glued parts, such as the door panels which may be impossible to remove without breaking.Any tips would be appreciated.

Ken, I've worked on a '58 Lincoln that had loose door hinges and it's not easy! The glue is tough!

The interior itself was easy to remove but those door panels are there for good. There are stubs within the door so there really isn't any glue around the edges. I'd just mask and paint the panels if it were me. Goodluck and please don't let that deter you! The Pontiac may be a bit different. Please post pics if you do!

Ken, if you have GOOD tools..swapping interiors is really NO big deal. I have.........

...literally taken apart 100's of 1/18 cars including 1/18 Sun Star's.

The key is to be careful & patient. Before you start removing screws and "tossing" parts on the table...understand EXACTLY how particular pieces fit (and come apart!).

Keep things neat and tidy as you go and have plenty of SOFT, clean towels handy.

If something needs to be re-glued...NO PROBLEM. "Crack it apart" CARFULLY then simply re-glue it. I ALWAYS use CA glue (Krazy glue).

Trust me Ken, it's no big deal.

Thanks Steve & Christopher. Question for Ned!! I see that you removed the door panels and replaced them. Were you able to "pry" them off? Any tricks??

Guys... the secret...is in the tools. You MUST use the proper tools and DON'T rush anything.
