I have bought several 1/18 scale diecast from Mint Models in the past including the recent past, but this time they have dropped the ball big time. I ordered a Autoart Hellcat in Sinamon Stick color that showed as in stock on their website back on March 22, 2022, when the car did not ship I checked the website and it had changed from in stock to back ordered. Now this car shows as unavailable. I sent an email on Friday May 13, 2022 asking the status of this order as it shows status as Assembly on my account with mint Models which normally means they are packaging it for shipping but I have my doubts as even Autoart no longer shows this Hellcat Challenger on their website either.
The worst part is I already paid for this car via PayPal because it was listed as in stock. I guess it perturbs me that Mint Models has not reached out to me about this order even after I emailed them. I called their phone number but all I could get was a recording. Mint Models either needs to ship the ordered car or refund the money.
This is why I don't like these companies doing preorders that they know they can't fill for months to even a year out while they don't charge you they still tie up credit on your account because you don't know when they are going to charge your account. I currently have three 1/18 scale models on preorder but will never again preorder any models because the wait time is a complete unknown and could be anywhere from a few months to over a year before the product finally ships.
The above Autoart Hellcat in Sinamon Stick was not a preorder as it did show as in stock when I ordered it.
Sorry for the longish post venting but this is ridiculous.
It's good that you've made us aware of this issue.
Thanks,
Steve
John, I had a similar situation a few years ago where I ordered a model that was supposedly in stock but never received it After some persistence on my part I was told it was no longer available and by than it was too late to get the model from another dealer. The difference was that I was not charged for the model.
Well John, you'll receive a full refund (via PAYPAL) but two things:
1) Yes, all this sucks.
2) All pre-orders are ALWAYS a gamble.
Good luck,
-Chris
@chris, This order was not a pre order it was shown as in stock when the order was placed, after ordering and checking on it three or four weeks later when it still had not shipped it was changed to showing as backordered and now today it shows as unavailable. I know pre orders are a gamble and is why I don't like pre orders. The account page at Mint Models shows this order as "Assembly" which I take it to mean they are in the process of packing it and shipping it. The problem is this order is showing as "Assembly" but nothing is happening and when you check both Mint Models site and Autoart's site this model is not even listed anymore.
As an update, I have not heard from Mint Models and have contacted them again via their website system. I think their own website system does not send your inquiry if you select "checking on an order status" from the drop down selections because it will send you to your account page to check the status when you hit the send message button, that is a bad feature because it is one of the topics you can select as the reason you are contacting them. If that is how that topic selection works then Mint Models never even gets your message, it is like you never sent it yet you think the message has gone through.
This time I used "other" and their system responded differently. Still if this model is no longer available Mint Models should have been on top of this and contacted the customer to resolve the issue.
@bob-jackman, I know things happen and I am very patient up to a point, I think the way Mint Models has their contact us page set up it allows you to completely fill out the contact information and type a message but if you select "Checking on an order" in the drop down menu it does not send the message to Mint Models and instead sends you to your account page to check the status of the order, that is very misleading because you select everything and type your message and hit the send button only to be sent to your account page and the message is never actually sent to Mint Models but you are left thinking the message was sent.
I sent another inquiry using the Mint Models contact us section on their website and this time I selected "other" and the Mint Model website system responded differently. Now I have to wait and see if I get a reply or not.
The reason I did not pursue this quicker is because when I ordered this car I also ordered a Yellow C7 Corvette two days later and the Corvette listed as in stock as well took longer to ship than normal but after 11 days it did ship. This Challenger at some point changed from in stock to back ordered to now is showing "Assembly" on my account page but when you check Mint Models site it says unavailable when clicking on the cars link under order items on your account page.
I ordered a total of four cars from Mint Models over a three day period all shown as in stock at the time of order:
1. Challenger Hellcat ordered on 3/22/2022 (Still has not shipped)
2. Shelby Mustang GT350R ordered on 3/22/2022 (shipped same day as ordered)
3. Dodge Viper ACR ordered on 3/23/2002 (Shipped same day as ordered)
4. Corvette C7-R Z06 ordered on 3/24/2022 (Took 11 days to ship)
I will update when I get a response.
Yes, I goofed that up. Sorry.
Again, I wish you luck. It's difficult to determine just who/what is responding to your queries, very frustrating I know. Equally frustrating are all those highlighted "clickable" selections.
I've had to deal with AliExpress on "more than one occasion." Like your tale of woe, the same BS. Taking money is easy, explaining why I'll never see my model is something else. "It shipped, it hasn't shipped, it shipped but it's being returned to sender, it will ship to you at additional costs, etc...." FINALLY, after I HIT EVERY option-"clickable" possible and demand a FULL refund, do I finally receive a full refund.
I no longer do business with AliExpress.
OK, the model is no longer available and Autoart is not going to produce anymore of them, Mint Models is refunding the money but it may take a few days for it to show up on PayPal, that is a PayPal issue as to when the money will show up but it should show up shortly.
I figured out the problem with contacting Mint Models, when you contact them using their contact us link on their website if you select check on a current order from the drop down topic menu their system instead of sending the information to Mint Models it reroutes you to your account page for you to see the current status of the order. No one from Mint Models will ever see that contact request. You have to select one of the other pre selected topics from the drop down menu. I selected Other today and they were quick to respond.
So I will give Mint Models a thumbs up for the quick reply today and their refunding the money on a model that Autoart is not going to produce anymore of.
Glad to hear it worked out. I've always had good service from Mint Models, so was hoping it was just a glitch.
