this model? It can't be as old as it looks before restoration. At least I don't think so. Looks to be 1/18 scale? Im just interested in knowing who might have made it.
Hey Mark. That's a Mira 1/18 1950 Chevrolet 2-dr hardtop that once sold for as little as $4.99 at Walmart in the mid 1990's. Today, most sell for between $15 -$20 on secondary markets.
Not unlike most of these videos, this too was artificially aged (faked ) to look old & beat up. If this model had truly been buried or exposed to the elements it would look 1000 times worse. That chrome would've peeled away, etc.
@chris Thanks, Chris! Yeah, I thought someone had "aged" it and the tech looked nothing like what would have been made contemporaneously to the model year.
The restoration looked kinda rough here and there too, like the way he popped off trim, etc.
@mikedetorrice Yeah, it really did look good in that color, Mike. I like your two versions also.
MotorMax 1950 Chevrolets just like this Mira one, although the mold may have been shared.
Correct. I could've elaborated further but who wants to hear me drone on. 🙄 In addition to Mira & Motor Max (Motor Box ) Solido also offered these (HT & convertible ) in stock and weathered liveries. Talk about maximizing a mold! 😏
They weren't bad for the price !
As Mark's restoration video also shows, they are very nice models and this tooling makes for inexpensive, yet good diecast replicas. And the low price for a cool older Chevrolet was certainly terrific !
