Ahhhh!  Muscle Cars!  As it has been a common paradigm among automotive circles for many decades, terminologies become blurred.  True Muscle Cars were big block American cars.  Pony cars were small blocks.  The term Pony Car began with the 260/289 CID Mustangs.  Still, the colloquial term of Muscle was pretty much any performance car from the 60s and 70s.  However, not all performance cars were muscle.  For example, the Corvette was a sports car, but many thought the 427 was a muscle car.  Ditto the Shelby Cobra.  The Shelby Mustangs featured big block displacements, but did anyone ever consider them muscle cars?  No one ever called a Pantera a muscle car despite the 351 CID engine.  

Here are a few of some of my collection what I consider are the more interesting models in my.... ahem... "muscle" collection.

Some awesome cars guys! 😎 😎 😎   I have those (too lazy to post pics  🙄) except the Oldsmobiles & that Ford Torino-which I think is a fine model....  not sure why I don't have one.  🤔 🤔
