@franklemire I had NO DOUBT about your model's accuracy; I just knew it was as spot on as possible. With all that work Frank, you should be posting some "how-to-pics." Many folks would love to see them. I post tutorials for about 85% of my projects including my last "big one," a fully functional 1/18 1956 Ford F-650 COE E&L Transport with matching 4-car MHS trailer.
You raise another good point: "...how many collectors are left that even care about Chaparral race cars." Certainly something to consider. 🤔 🤔 🤔
I've wondered what this poppy red, 1:12 scale, Danbury Mint convertible Mustang would get on auction. It's the only one in existence. It's a very close replica to the 1:1 classic I once owned.
@chris - Nope, not a repaint. It's the only one. It was the prototype of a planned release that never happened.
How did I acquire it? I was called by a collector in Las Vegas who knew I wanted one. He acquired it from Danbury Mint. I agreed to buy it, and I drove to Las Vegas to pick it up. This was the literature DM sent to potential buyers. What's it worth? Who knows, right? If I ever sell it, then we'll know the price.
@marty-johnson Yeah, that paint job looked factory to me.
Holy Hanna! I find it incredible that this 1 of 1 found its way into your greedy little hands! I have a 1/18 GMP (1 of 6) special paint (chrome black) dragster prototype but a HUGE, 1 of 1, Mustang convertible...with WORKING top...in 1/12 scale!!??? Holy Hanna!
I'd conservatively place the value @ $4,500.00 but for sh*** & giggles, I'd list it on eBay (with a high reserve). I'd LOVE to see just what kind of interest/bids it would generate.
