NEED WIPER ARM FOR 1/12TH GMP 1967 GT-40 MK-IV
I RECENTLY PURCHASED A 1/12TH GMP 1967 GT-40 MK-IV #1 COLORED SILVER! I LOOKED ON LEGACY'S DIE CAST LIST & REVIEWS TO FIND OUT MORE ABOUT THE GMP 1/12TH SCALE ITEM AND WAS EVEN MORE SURPRISED THAT THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO MENTION OF THIS DIE CAST THAT I WAS HOLDING IN MY SHAKING HANDS..NOW WHAT DO I DO? WELL, WHAT WOULD YOU DO? NEXT DAY I CALLED LEGACY AND THEY HAD NEVER HEARD OF THAT PARTICULAR 1/12TH 1967 GMP #1 SILVER GT-4O MK-IV BUT ASKED IF I FOUND OUT MORE ABOUT THIS ITEM, IF I COULD TAKE SOME PICTURES OF IT SO THEY COULD PUT IT IN THEIR GMP 1/12TH LISTINGS! YOU BETCHA I BLURTED OUT.
NEXT DAY I CALLED ACME AND ASK MATT ABOUT THIS RARE GEM I HAD RECENTLY PURCHASED, (TOM LONG'S SON IS NOW THE BIG MAN IN CHARGE
AT ACME NOW), MATT PAUSED FOR A BIT THEN GOT BACK TO ME WITH SOME EXCITING NEWS. THIS 1967 #1 SILVER GT-40 MK-IV WAS A VERY LOW LIMITED EDITION OF ONLY 36 AND MINE WAS #24.
OK, NOW THATS THE GREAT NEWS ON THIS PURCHASE, BUT THIS 1967 1/12TH GT-40 MK'IV DID HAVE A DOWN SIDE...ITS MISSING THE WINDSCREEN WIPER ARM AND THE 4 CHAINS THAT HOLD THE FRONT AND REAR UPPER SECTIONS OF THE BODY PIECES FROM OPENING TO FAR WHEN OPENING UP THESE AREAS FOR VIEWING. I'M SURE I CAN COME UP WITH THOSE LITTLE CHAINS BUT THE ORIGINAL WIPER ARM IS A VERY DIFFERENT STORY. I NEED TO FIND SOMEONE OUT THERE THAT COULD EITHER SELL ME THIS ORIGINAL 1967 GT-40 MK-IV WIPER ARM OR A DONOR CAR THAT STILL HAS THESE PARTS BUT MIGHT BE A PIECE OF JUNK OTHER THAN THAT. SO YOU COLLECTORS OUT THERE, CAN YOU HELP ME FIND THESE PARTS? REMEMBER, THE 1967 WIPER ARM IS THE ONLY YEAR THAT WILL WORK AND THAT PART IS MUCH IN NEED AS I CAN PROBABLY FIND THOSE CHAINS ON MY OWN. LET ME KNOW FOLKS, I'LL PAY A GOOD PRICE DEPENDING ON WHAT YOU GOT. CHEERS TO YOU AND YOURS, ALLEN COON (Contact-allencoon@gmail.com)
This is going to be a 'hard find'............
Given their size and there 'cost' relative to 1:18 scale cars (at least back when they were released) not a lot of them were ever made and their buyers tend to be very protective of them so finding one as a 'parts car' is going to be tough.
A better option is finding someone to fabricate you a new one. Either by the traditional molding method or by 3D printing. In either case you will need to borrow a wiper from someone to use as a template.
I would suggest finding a fabricator first and then looking for a collector near you to loan you one for replication.
By the way, my GMP MKIV model only has the chains in the back - I think they might have all been that way.
