certainly the most successful road and race car... This 1961 Ferrari 250 SWB Berlinetta Lusso by Scaglietti (road car) represents one of the 165 built over 3 years allowing for a mix of read and track vehicles with the road version similarly powered but bodied in steel and more luxuriously appointed. This "corto" or short wheel based car was evolved from the very successful late '50s 250 GT 'Tour de France' berlinetta by having its chassis shortened for better handling.  There were a number of minor changes over the 3 years ('60-'63) and CMC chose a mid-production example with the body in its final configuration with the dash arrangement still to be modified. The 3.0 liter V12 could be set up for anywhere between 220 to 280 HP. Its successes in European and SCCA racing were legendary.

Looks good to me and with all the details you'd expect from CMC.  😎

Help me raise my awareness.  This isn't a Lusso, but it is the 250 GT Berlinetta, right?  This is a Lusso...

Holy cow!  A vintage Porsche, a Gull-wing & two rare Ferraris all outside your window, not bad, not bad at all!  😎 😎 😎  That's about all I can add; I wouldn't know a "Lusso"  from a lasso.  🙄 🙄 😏

@marty-johnson "Berlinetta" = coupe (as opposed to open top "Spyder")  "Lusso" = road car The latter's designation was changed later to "Stradale" which translates to 'road'. The opposite of Lusso would be "competizione". In this case it was steel vs alloy and fully appointed vs stripped down. Different levels of engine performance was available on both variants.

Correct, as usual. But, I thought the Lusso was also larger than the SWB Berlinetta, more of a true GT.

@jkuvakas The SWBs were a limited run of the original 250 GT and the longer wheel based cars were still being built in various bodies and sold well in the US as status exotic sports cars with the less stubby 250s deemed sexier looking. As street legal in luxe trim, they also got the "Lusso" moniker.

I have three of these cars - all in racing livery - and I think they are great looking!

I also have a couple of the GT250 'California' cars

year review 12
year review 5

Which are also quite nice
