At the end of the GT1 season in 1996, Mercedes saw the potential to dominate the 1997 and they gave the job to AMG to build a GT1 class winner. All they asked was that design elements of the normal CLK street car and to use their own 6.0 L V12 rather than the BMW equivalent.. The debut of the CLK GT1 was a bit rocky, but once the bugs were ironed out, the AMG team won 6 majors securing the Manufacturers Title as well as the Driver's Championship for Bernd Schneider.
This is a Maisto model of a Warsteiner (beer), Original-Teile (auto parts), Mobil 1 and Mercedes sponsored race car in quite a busy wrap. It had a 2nd place win at Oscherleben, Germany. I just thought the wrap was pretty cool.
That's not bad for a Maisto model, I've got two of their GT models in my collection.
I agree, wonderful model and outstanding for a Maisto. Thanks Rich.
