This Maserati 300S spyder was built between to race in the FIA's Sports Car Class. The 3.0 liter inline 6 had to have its compression ratio dropped to run on mandated "road car gasoline". It still produced a peppy 245 HP, but still had great horse power to weight ratio as with it lattice frame and aluminum body, it only weighted 1720 lbs. It was produced from 1955 to 1958. One of the surviving cars has long been owned by Mark Knofler of Dire Straights and he's driven it in multiple historical racing venues.

Beautiful model, not much more you can say about it. I would love to see the real car in person.
