Not a model for the "woke" collector is the "Dukes of Hazzard" 1969 #01 Dodge Charger "General Lee". I guess I should bury it along side one of the statues of General Robert E. Lee by all those that wish to bury history to create a new narrative. I'm also considering peeling off the movie license plates I made for the Bandit Trans Am.
Sorry, woke folks, but I love this model.
Great post Rich...I refuse to buy any model car that is stripped of its originality because it 'offends' certain people.
I was shocked when I heard the model companies were deleting the flag on the top of the General Lee.....oh well, that will only increase the value of the original ones that have the flag.
@ben-lampson Like the pictures but the commentary is pretty sad, sorry. I never understood celebrating people who committed treason, it should not be forgot, one of the darkest parts of American history, there is no rewrite of history going on here. I don't care if your model has a confederate flag on it, it's the way it was. I don't mind cigarettes' or alcohol advertisers on models, I like them and I wouldn't buy that Charger if it didn't have the flag on it. But to celebrate the confederate flag is a different subject. This all ties into why I haven't been posting here for such a long time, but it seems the consensus of the people here is that I am wrong.

@josh I liken this to when I used to model WWll German aircraft. If the model kit was produced in Europe or for European distribution, the swastikas were deleted and you had to buy aftermarket decals. Just because you wanted the model to be historically accurate didn't mean you subscribed to the ideology behind the symbol. That symbol is thousands of years older than the Nazi Party had no relation to what the party symbol stood for.
@josh Josh, I was planning to ignore this thread but I am writing because of your reply. You are not wrong and I support your view. Let's not follow the cancel culture and continue to share opinions about cars and models. I also stopped posting on another forum where the political views were very strong and opposite to mine, however we can be better and keep the dialogue, especially since we can simply talk cars.
OK gents, let's move on. Leave the political debates to other venues. This is not the place to have these discussions.
