This is a diecast model by Solido of a good-looking 1947 Chevrolet truck. It is actually listed on the underside of the replica as being 1/19 scale, but no matter, it is nicely done in it's original form as Pennsoil motor-oil tanker. I changed it into a pickup by removing the tank and making a pickup bed and sides for it.
Great set of photos Mike. I like what you did with the truck. I have a two tone green pickup. I have never really figured out what I am going to do with it. My original plan was to convert it into British LDRG desert combat vehicle. Could not found proper wheels and chassis. Plus involved a lot of cutting. Later I saw a hot rod truck satin black with mag wheels and jacked up rear. Never got around to it.
Strange scale, but no matter as you say - it looks fantastic! You make so many of your automotive photos look like some of your dad's ads - magnificent!
Your idea about converting it into a British desert combat vehicle would look great, yet it is a good-looking truck so it would be excellent any way. I didn't realize until after my pickup conversion that Solido also made a regular pickup edition of this already. Oh well, it was a fun project anyway !
And thanks Tony ! Here is another quick image of Louie/Tony M. using the spare Pennzoil tank to fill up his truck with extra oil so he doesn't have to do it every few months !
Mike, I like your conversion to a pickup and, of course, your pictures.
Thanks, Bob ! Those era of Chevrolet and GMC trucks were long-lasting designs and very attractive. Perhaps it is one reason Highway 61 did their various good-looking 1/16 diecast replicas of these trucks, too.
