This is the 1953 Cadillac Eldorado as done many years ago by Anson. I believe the mold was later obtained by Ertl and re-released by them.

I have this one in a blue color and also as a brilliant red version. Both are top-up convertibles and certainly can form part of an "Automobiles of 1953" 1/18 diecast display along with the Buick Skylark, Hudson Hornets, Fords, Packard Caribbeans, Studebaker coupes, Chevrolet Bel Airs and Corvettes.

Both gorgeous and, as always, I love how you treat the subject in your photos. It flatters and enhances the car. I think I might like the blue version best.

Ahhhh, the '53 Caddy!  Danbury Mint did this car in 1:16 scale.

I have this one...it's the largest model I own aside from some vintage Tonka trucks.

@chris - I found it a bit odd that DM decided to do models in 1:16 scale.  I have their very nice 1955 Chevy.  Interestingly, aside from selling other diecast maker's models, they never did one of their own.  It would seem that with 1:18 being a far more popular scale, they would have produced issues of that size instead of the limited market of 1:16. All of their 1:16 issues are selling for less than $100 on eBay.  Considering the quality, I view them as being great steals.

- True, but you must remember 30 - 40 years ago, 1/18 hadn't really caught on yet.  "Large scale"  1/16 seemed logical because that's what AMT was doing.  Revell even launched a Creative Masters Series  in 1/20 scale (note these reviews from 1998 )....   which again, seem logical.   Who knew 1/18 (an odd-ball scale like 1/25 ) would catch on?

- Also, yes indeed MOST of these 1/16 (I have several ) are down-right steals today!    I have two '55 Chevys, an Eldo, two Model Ts and a '29 Cord - HONEST: I spent $55 total for ALL of them!   Years ago, you could find these on eBay for $10    😜 😜

I have a 1/16 scale 1940 Ford stake truck from Highway 61 who did a whole series of trucks in that scale. It is a beautifully done diecast replica with a great display presence. I understood that 1/16 was "farm scale" and others did tractors and other farm-type vehicles in that scale.

Lol, thank you, Karl ! I am happy to have a couple of these older Anson 1/18 1953 Cadillacs as they are such beautiful cars and replicas.
