@marty-johnson That about sums it up quite nicely.  There are very few, if any, perfect replicas, naturally.    But let's be honest, some are better than others and, well, some are POS.   Take Motormax's  1/18 1967 Chevrolet Chevelle, for instance; it's terrible..... that Yat-minger  '58 Caddy ain't  much better.  🙄 🙄

And Chris, it appears you worked your magic on that opening trunk.. 😜 🤣

Amazing how sometimes a low budget model can have a feature that models pricier lack.

Not a chance brother.  That hot mess  is all Motormax (Motorworks ).   Here's another 1/18 Motormax POS ....    many years ago, I had an opportunity to get 4 or 6 of these for free; I passed.     There was simply nothing there I wanted, or thought I could ever use (as parts for projects ).

@chris

I've got there 68 or 69 GTO somewhere in my parts bin and I was surprised when I took it apart to try and detail it that the front fenders are separate from the rest of the body so actually you could make a diorama out of it if it was in a repair shop.

IMO, wheels and tires and interior bits always come in handy along with headlight lenses for other projects.

- As I recall, their tires were too janky  to be used on any "credible"  project.   You know me, I'm kind of a snob.  I'll only pirate "good stuff,"  or I'll just make it myself, especially wheels & tires.   😏 😏

- I'm not surprised you discovered realistic GTO fenders on your MM.  I own several 1/18 MM models, many of them are actually VERY well done (and usually pretty cheap ).  They even produced some EXTREMELY nice DIECAST 1/18 WW II German tanks, which were must-have-models for me.  🙂

I lied Steve, I found one!

I have NO idea how (or why ) I have this.  I KNOW I didn't pay for it.  This Miria is an EXCELLENT toy, but a terrible scale replica.

OK, so MAYBE I can use the dash mirror as a 1/12 scale soap dish OR the taillights, front parking lights and grill for a custom project, but other than that, well....

Of course, the irony of all ironies: The paint is damn near flawless WITHOUT any blistering, bubbles, rash or cancer.  Go figure!  🙄 🙄 🙄 🙄 🙄 🙄

For many years I had a Mira brand red 1955 Buick Century 2-door coupe, although I think it was indicated on the bottom plate as being a 1/19 scale replica. I also think Maisto made a  1/27 scale 1955 Buick Century pillared hardtop coupe done in highway patrol-type black and white livery.

Maisto made a 1/26 scale '55 Buick 2-door sedan in various liveries. I never saw a hardtop.   Why 1/26?    Who knows?    Who collects 1/26 anything?   A very strange scale choice but the model isn't that bad.

The 1955 Maisto Buick was nicely done, but I don't think they did a standard civilian Buick, too. It very much reminded one of the TV show "Highway Patrol" !

I don't believe anyone did a scale Broderick Crawford figure, too ! Any of the automobiles on that show would make a terrific scale replica. A real 1:1 Buick was restored to be a "Highway Patrol" automobile for parades and special events.
