@marty-johnson I'll never forget the video of Jay Leno flipping and trashing that Hairy Olds. That had to be one embarrassing moment for him. To his credit, he released the video. I'd have wanted to bury the video along with myself.

@rich-sufficool -

This is just a point of clarity that I'm sure you can appreciate.  It's easy to get the Hurst cars confused, but that incident to which you are referring was the Hurst Hemi Under Glass Plymouth Barracuda wheelstander and not the twin-engine Hurst Hairy Olds.  Also, Leno was a passenger, and Bob Riggle was driving.

BTW, the accident had the potential to be very ugly.  Without window nets, which are standard safety features in most full-bodied racecars, Leno and Bob Riggle were very lucky that their arms didn't get flung from the inside to the outside of the car while it rolled.

@marty-johnson Oh Lord! You're absolutely correct. Also, I thought Jay was driving. I saw the video on "Jay Leno's Garage". I guess it wasn't clear to me who was driving.

@marty-johnson I recall that when I first saw this crash clip it occurred to me how lucky both men were and how horribly ironic it would have been to lose one or both of these high profile enthusiasts in such a relatively minor display of the car's capabilities.

...thanks Marty. I was going to post all this for Rich, but you beat me to it.

Yes, both men were very lucky....yet, compared to other vehicle accidents  Jay experience (and actually did cause ), all things considered, this roll-over was tame.

A few years later Jay almost decapitated himself while riding a motorcycle and didn't notice a low-placed horizontal chain.  Then, he almost dragged himself across the shop as he started his V-12 Longana in gear without being inside the car.

There were also a few gasoline fires...and course one really bad incident in which he did burn his face and plastic surgery was needed.

I saw an SR 71 at the Denver airport back in the 80s. We were waiting to take off when our pilot came on the intercom to point out the plane and to tell us we weren't really seeing it because it was classified.
