PICS - STP Turbine Indycar
I can scratch another off my must have wish list as this represents one of the models I've always wanted in 1:18 scale. I have this model in 1:12 by Bandai but it is in my closet, in the original packaging, unassembled. Actually, I have two as I have another one that is broken and is in deep need of a restoration.
Although resin, I still very much like this model. The removable plastic cowl pieces make it more fun with the ability to enjoy some of the mechanical bits.

WOW!!! Looks fantastic. The visible turbine is a most welcome plus.
Beautiful photographs, sir.
I agree with Richard!

L-R: Jones; Granatelli; Chapman: Clark.
The Lotus 56 was the next step in turbine cars for Indy. Granatelli, through STP, had sponsored Lotus for The 500 in '66 &'67, so for '68 Chapman and Granatelli used the best ideas from the '67 Paxton STP car and the design of Maurice Philippe and came up with the Lotus 56. Clark, Hill, who had raced Rover Turbines at Le Mans, and Jones were the original choices to drive the new Lotus at Indy and then Clark was killed.
Beautiful photos! Excellent model!
