This 1933 Rolls Royce Phantom ll chassis with its 7.7 liter 6 was sold to a rich English gentleman for the princely price of £2450 and was then fitted with a 5 passenger touring body by Barker of London. The car turned up decades later in British East Africa owned by the Kenya Tea Company. With a stack of teak wood from Thailand and design plans from Hooper of London, a local ship builder was contracted to build this stunning boat tailed body in the early 50s (while the Brits still had an empire). In 1999, the car was obtained and is on exhibit at the Technik Museum at Sisheim, Germany.
Model by CMF.
I'm thinking it's a little bit of both along with perhaps being a warning beacon not to rear end me.
It is an astounding car and model and both look great and quite unique !
not to rear end me.
"...rear?" You mean "stern." 😏 😏
This is one of those models I shouldn't like, but I do. Neither bold nor beautiful, it's actually kind of stupid (in a nice way ). That is, it looks like it should float but it can't. Also, what good is a "fake boat car" to the driver? From the cowl forward, it's all "car." The appeal for this vehicle/replica is of course it's obscure absurdity.... key words/phrases that could only mean one thing:
Rich has posted again! 😏 😏 😎
I must say, all that wood is very convincing, and those wheels are superb!
@chris Uuuuh... thanks... I think. BTW: that car ran the Peking to Paris race in the mid-nineties.

Hey Chris,
You remember how you posted pics of the undersized spare in the Cobra's trunk...is this spare oversized ? Or is it really a life-preserver ?

This particular spare appears to be correctly sized. That beautifully painted two-piece cover, in "life preserver livery," gives the illusion that the wheel is larger than it is. I'm content with this set-up and will sleep comfortably tonight. 😀 😆 😀 😏 😏

Sounds like something Leno would do. 😀 He loves to say, "The idea is to restore a car, drive the hell out of it, then restore it again... there's no fun in just letting them sit."
