The 1961 Ferrari 250 GT SWB Berlinetta IMHO is the ultimate expression of Ferrari's '250' lineup that began in 1952 and ended in 1964 with the 250 GTO. They were all powered by the front engined, RWD 3.0 liter Colombo V12 ( the '250' refers to the displacement in ccs of a single cylinder). This Bizzarrini designed GT was built by Pinin Farina. A sure winner during its tenure at the track, it was finally eclipsed by the more aerodynamic GTO.
While not the first of CMC's 1/18 lineup, this model was the first museum quality replica and portent of things to come. When I got this model in my hand, I now could gladly retire the 1/24 plastic model that I had slaved over.
Beautiful model of a fantastic car. The CMC was well out of my price range, so I was glad when Hot Wheels Elite released theirs. Its a good model, but not one of their best (strangely, the 250GT California is much better).

What a beautiful car. I rate this one just below the GTO. Thanks guys for the wonderful images.
The Mattel Elite looks pretty nice including the Boranni wires. If you're not looking for a 1000 parts count, this'll keep a lot of money in your pocket for sure and it displays really well.
That Mattel Elite is nice but OMG...that CMC is artful craftsmanship. The more one looks, the more one sees.... endless detail is a modeler's delight! What a car!
